Synopsis
On a cold night in NYC, after missing curfew at a shelter, T–a homeless queer teen–searches for a way to get off the streets. Knowing the city offers programs that help people living with HIV secure housing, he devises a plan to contract the virus so he can receive the same support. Afraid of following through with such a life-changing decision, he does everything possible to avoid his plan. But as the night gets colder and he’s exhausted all options, he makes a tough choice for his survival. home is a tender and gritty exploration of the fundamental problems LGBTQ+ youth face every day.

Donja R. Love is an American playwright. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Love identifies himself as an Afro-Queer, HIV positive playwright and filmmaker. His work has been produced in multiple states around the United States, but he is mainly based in New York City and Philadelphia. He is best known for his 2019 play one in two based on the 2017 CDC study that found that one in two black gay or bisexual men will be diagnosed with HIV at some point in their life.
