NAVIGATING SUCCESS - THE ART OF FILM GRANT WRITING

This workshop is designed to demystify securing grants for film projects, providing aspiring filmmakers and industry professionals with practical insights and strategies for crafting compelling grant proposals. The workshop will cover essential components of grant writing, including identifying suitable grant opportunities, articulating project goals, creating effective budgets, and communicating the social and cultural impact of the proposed film. Participants will gain valuable guidance on navigating the application process, understanding the expectations of grant-making institutions, and maximizing their chances of securing funding for their projects.

Eman Safadi - Producer and Talent Manager

Eman Safadi is a producer and talent manager based in Calgary, AB. She has a proven track record in corporate business development, nonprofit management and fund development across different continents. As co-founder of FOREIGNERZ, an art and production house, Eman oversees production and operations, leading various film projects and music videos. In addition to her work as a manager and co-founder of FOREIGNERS, Eman is actively involved in the arts community and has led workshops and panel discussions at several notable Calgary institutions, such as Arts Commons, The GRAND, and Sled Island Music Festival. Her commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in film, music and artmaking reflects her values and dedication to community service.

Perpetual Atife - Grant Program Specialist, Calgary Arts Development

A recent immigrant from Nigeria, Perpetual has a decade old experience working in the non-profit arts sector. Held a key management office at the Musical Society of Nigeria, she is a Grant Specialist with Calgary Arts Development.

She holds a BA in Music and the Rozsa Arts Management certificate offered in partnership with Haskayne School of Business.

When she takes off her arts manager hat, she is an artist. Recent outstanding appearances include the Canadian Jazz Festival, and her self-curated sold-out concert, Ije Live.

Her most recent recognition is the Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee Medal (2023).
